It’s One Of Those Nights Where A Cop Threatens Your Family Because You Won A Paypal Dispute

Hey! Remember the worst guitar deal ever? Where the guy ducked me for sixteen days, forcing me to file a complaint with PayPal, then magically remembered to ship a guitar that somehow got damaged a few different ways at the FedEx office?

I remember that deal. I remember it fondly, because at that point I hadn’t been threatened with violence by a cop.

I won the Paypal case against this guy and offered to send him his guitar back. He then started demanding the money.

It gets odder. Although the buyer has always represented himself as “Terry Sheckles” of “Bert’s Metal Buffing”, when I asked him for his badge and department information he then claimed to be “Brent Hutchinson” of the Racine, WI, Police Department. So apparently Terry, or Brent, is going to come down here and do me some violence with the consent of the local police — or possibly send them over to do it.

So, you know, if this blog goes silent after tomorrow and nobody ever hears from me again, I’d start with those people 🙂

Good Lord. This is why America is up in arms rioting. These bozos think their badge is some sort of license to bully. I love you Jack, and I wish you no harm, but I kind of hope he shows up and does something stupid (which seems well within his wheelhouse), so that we can redirect the national conversation away from race. toward the bullying mindset of cops - which, regardless of race, is the root problem.

What is it about guitar collectors and their desire to drive several hours to get in a fight with other guitar collectors in order to settle online transaction disputes?

So my local sheriff came out and assured me that they aren’t going to drive an MRAP through my house tonight. Instead, they’re going to call the Racine, WI police department and talk to this guy’s boss.

If the guy *is* a cop then actually making the implied threat there is a one way ticket to not being one anymore.

    Not really ~

It depends on the Department .

Some _really_ bad s#*t gets swept under the rug , you never hear about it .

I’ve seen lots of things swept under the rug. It’s rather difficult to do said sweeping when it’s documented on a blog complete with screenshots.

Seriously , you must not work for an Police Dept.

Not bagging on you , we have a serious problem going on right here , other areas I know do too .

Photographic evidence is simply shelved or ignored when they want .

Damn. Sorry you’re dealing with that. I attempted to buy the 535, but (fortunately) he ignored my message. I think I would have been less patient than you were, especially as I also once wound up in the ICU while having in progress deals but managed to make sure they were handled. (And none were approaching that price range). I also had some questions with his behavior.

On a related note the HOC shut down. There’s an admin message entitled “Community Going Dark,” which begins with, “We had a good run, but it looks like it’s over.”

I saw that. It can’t be just due to me fussing with Brent or this bad deal — there have been worse things that have happened in the past. I’d sure like to know what’s going on.

This is wild speculation, but someone at Heritage recently posted that there would not be any more in progress guitar photos. I don’t recall the exact wording, but I read it as sounding exasperated. I don’t know what the relationship between Heritage and the forum was, but it sounds like it may have recently changed. At any rate I hope it isn’t indicative of more serious problems at Heritage.

Sadly, a few folks on the HOC website were pure trolls on a power trip or running a “quick guitar flip” scam in various ways. Jack is not the first to experience this as I have, too. A few of the most “respected” published members were the worst of the lot-the good doctor being one of them. Yes, Mark…you suck and are as cheap and fake as a pleather sofa from Value City. They played the game well, looked good to others, kept deposits, changed guitar deals on the fly, told large fibs about one owner guitars with amazing histories (which, like we wouldn’t know the difference, as they recently purchased off Ebay)…and the like. Clearly, a few of them ticked off the folks at Heritage and things came to a head. I am sad to see a support group like the vast majority of good folks on the site no longer have a venue, but, on the other hand, those of us that have been on the HOC a few years know a small “ruling” majority were total jerks and fake as can be. They no longer have a place to rip off those they saw as “outsiders.” Jack, keep your head up and don’t sweat the Supermen behind computer screens…soon enough they will cause new drama for their entertainment.

Hmm. I’m a scammer? I’ll take that under advisement.

I suppose I’m expected to try to defend myself, but I’m feeling a little lethargic and distracted now.

      But consider who’s the troll.

Every day I’m surprised at the spectrum of humanity- its thoughts and behavior. Every goddam day.

It should be mentioned that without Mark I’d be looking at a world of misery right now regarding this deal.

No need to sweat things, good doctor. We won’t turn this into a long winded dispute or entertainment session for others. You and I both know your antics and issues, and that is all the reality we need. I told you I would call you on it and I did. Just because you do a good deed for someone doesn’t mean you are not guilty of pulling the same dirty junk on others. It is what it is. You are being called on the rug for it and that is that. People have no need to make things up for entertainment. You live and you learn. You may have a 1000 HOC friends, and 10,000 good deals, but that doesn’t negate if you attempt to screw someone over. It just doesn’t. You can’t polish a turd. Life goes on…and for at least the two of us, the good news is we won’t attempt any business transactions-you can keep your ebay guitar, the fabricated story, and all of the other drama you created surrounding that non-sense. You can’t possibly have thought contacting the original seller on ebay, a week after you bought the guitar, wouldn’t be a possiblility? In the end, your actions brought un-needed drama. Your stories changed as quickly as you needed them to…Sadly, as many good things as you do for others, and help you offer others, if you pull the same dirty business in the future…well…you own that. Finally, the only reflection you should really focus on is yourself…

Now I know who you are. Interesting.

This story would require a hell of a lot of popcorn to get through. I’m not taking the bait. I’ll pass.

I had a bad experience with an ebay buyer once.

Two same sized parcels got mixed up when I was sick and my wife sent them to the wrong buyers. One guy returned right away. The other guy dragged it out over two or three months with one bs story to another.

I got to some cyber sleuthing and found out that he worked for the police department somewhere in Cali (don’t know if he was an LEO) and was doing transactions from the station house computer at all hours of the night. Further digging revealed that he had cancer.

Finally got it resolved - and then his ebay member ID went dark. Rob something. I’m guessing he went dark too.
