Hey Buddy, Wanna Buy A Corvette?

Danger Girl’s old C5 Corvette is currently on Bring A Trailer with a top bid of $16,000.

That’s a good deal, and I’ll explain why.

In addition to being a pampered car that spent much of its life on the West Coast and/or in a sealed garage, the Corvette has had quite a few expensive upgrades. Matt’s additions to the car probably totaled $20k, and I put another $4k of parts and labor into it last year. It runs hard, corners well, and turns in relatively low lap times. You would have a hard time getting a better-condition car with more power and handling for less money.

The only reason we got rid of it was so I could buy Spike The Accord and try my hand at a different racing class. Danger Girl has been openly musing the idea of bidding on the car so she can have it back. If you don’t want to bid against her, drop a note and let me know 🙂

I’m a BaT junkie, bought a couple cars there, and seen it listed. Had thoughts of bidding on it, but ultimately decided I needed a track ready Corvette about as much as I needed a third hand growing out of my forehead.
(see a recently registered bidder just bumped the price up. Hmmmm)

Does it come with a 4 year 50,000 lap bumper to bumper warranty and 3 years of free servicing? What are the 3 year 36,000 lap lease rates – do those payments include any available loyalty discounts?

I suspect that the HRE wheels cost Matt 2-3k alone, and my experience with these cars on the street says that they feel a lot faster than the numbers might suggest..

$16,000? That’s less than I paid for my Honda Fit, though I doubt I could fit my whole NAMM display in a Corvette.

I would so love to buy that car, or one like it. Probably one like it instead, since I’m in Washington and nowhere near Ohio. And I’d have to sell the old C4 first.

I’ve been reading “All Corvettes are Red” and I bought my C4 just as the C5s had been born. There’s a huge difference between the two cars, and for $16k yours would be a steal. I’ll have to steal one closer to home.
