(Last) Weekly Roundup: Oh My Goatness Edition

I have been to the mountaintop, as the man once said. More specifically, to Mount Evans, the highest paved road in North America. This is actually the second time I’ve been to the mountaintop; the last time I was driving a McLaren 650S right after the snowplows had made an icy but usable path for me to follow. This time the weather was good, the car was FWD, and the goats were out in force. For more hot animal action and for a link to the (extremely) short roundup for this week, click El Linko.

No TTAC post this week; that’s on me, I didn’t submit the article properly. There will be a few yet this week.

For R&T, I suggested an alternative choice for a vaguely attainable supercar.

More to come this week, both on this site and elsewhere. Thanks for your patience!

Not sure why the algorithms decided to show it to me, but the banner ad at the top of the home page is for ArabianDate, “#1 Muslim dating site”.

I’m always wondering what it will take to overthrow the Porsche hegemony. The BMW i8 wasn’t it obviously, but kudos to them for coming up with something original and innovative and just so great looking. As to whether people really use these cars capabilities and would feel anemic in the i8 as opposed to the hurracan, well I’ve seen quite a few Ferraris and Lambos and i8s stuck in traffic on Wilshire or parked on Rodeo, but when I feel like going for a real drive on Mulholland or Crescent Canyon, they’re nowhere to be found. Just the usual BMW Ms and the occasional 911s. Maybe they’re all at the track, but I suspect not.

Certainly they’re not ~ living in Southern California means you get to see super cars almost daily and few are ever even keeping up with traffic .

The last time I was in Beverly Hills I heard a tremendous noise and looked to see what it was ~ a Middle Eastern kid, maybe 18Y.O. was driving along at 10 MPH or so in first gear with the poor engine howling at redline, just to gain attention…..

      What an ignoramus .

If _I_ had access to a brand new bright red Lambo convertible, I’m sure I’d take it to the closest twisty road and wreck it before I knew what happened .

Good points. My daughter’s school had a visit from a Youtuber last year who was in the area buying his Lamborghini. Great inspiration for the kids I guess…

Actually I use those and the Ghetto/Barrio losers as examples of what to _not_ aspire to and Lo ! my beautiful Son has succeeded wildly beyond all hopes .
