This Week’s Klockau Lust Object: 1980 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe

Are our favorite vehicles the ones we imprint on in our formative years? I think so. At least, it’s true in my case.

A Lone Show In January

Not much going on lately. Halloween,  Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s have come and gone. It’s cold, gloomy and dreary here in the Quad Cities. And my favorite local Lincoln dealer, Strieter, just sold out to out of towners.

This Week’s Klockau Lust Object: 1979 Ninety-Eight Regency

This week’s example of Broughams of Christmas Past was once again found on a FB group I’m in, Finding Future Classic Cars. I saw this and my Brougham Radar locked on and began beeping frantically. Especially love the black paint, no vinyl roof, rare factory accessory wheels and the red velour interior–with matching red exterior…

Sycamore Mall Car Show: Setting the Wayback Machine to Iowa City, Summer 2012

Here’s an oldie but a goodie. The Sycamore Mall cruise night from July 2012. The show is still held, but it’s moved to Coral Ridge Mall in nearby Coralville. My recent “Last cruise night of the year” column was from the new location.

1980 Chrysler LeBaron: Fifth Avenue Prequel

Another Broughamish artifact from the late ’70s/early ’80s? You betcha!

Straight Sixes, Sedans and Station Wagons. Super!

Car show season has ended. Oh sure, there may yet be a couple of stragglers, but essentially they are done for the next six months. Although today it was 71 degrees when I walked out of the office. Not bad for the second day of November in the Midwest.

1955 Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe St. Regis: 100 Million Dollars! Muhahaha!

In the late Forties and early Fifties, Chrysler was considered a luxurious, well-engineered, high powered (starting in ’51 with the FirePower V8) line of cars. But at the same time, boring and staid. They weren’t nearly as smooth and sexy as, say, a ’50 Coupe de Ville. Not that they were ugly, but they were…

Last Excursion of 2022: Model Car Show in Countryside

I’ve posted about it in the past, but twice a year in Chicagoland, there’s a great model car and promotional model show in Countryside at the IUOE Local 150 hall in Countryside, IL. My buddy and fellow Brougham aficionado Jim Smith always has a table of promos, and I help him out, so I get…
