So many travel trailers are now the mostly immobile homes of the down and out and left behind. It is nice to go back to a time when advances in design and new better roads offered a path to adventure in the new comfortable retirements provided by secure lifetime employment of the masses.

Seeing these on the road is always a treat. Whatever your politics, these are MAGA in the riveted Al flesh. It may be sacrilegious, but pinup girl nose art would really pop on one of these.
    Party out of bounds, Kate!

    Highly recommended. https://www.amazon.com/Airstream-History-Yacht-Bryan-Burkhart/dp/0811824713/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=airstream&qid=1548091771&s=Books&sr=1-6

I once came very close to buying a 32 foot Airstream that had been converted for use as a radio station’s remote broadcast van. It had some slight damage and was sitting behind the station, down the street from where I lived. I offered the station manager $1,000 and he was going to take it just to get it off their property, but then the company hired to paint their broadcast tower offered to knock more than that off their fee if they could have it.

I was also there in the Beatrice day and again after Thor bought them. Challenging time. Best Wally Byam story from an old timer was that Wally in the late 50s tried to buy a mothballed WWII aircraft carrier so the caravans could camp on the deck on their way to Europe. He tried to convince the DOD to sell it to him on monthly payments.
