The new M3 runs elevens out of the box and offers more torque at 2000rpm than the C6 Corvette Z51 did at peak. It’s fast and light (relatively speaking) and somewhat distant to operate. But if you want more details than that…
then why not take a lap of Mid-Ohio with me in a DCT-enabled M3? Surprises will be few, I think.

Elevens out the box!? What, to the end of the block. By my recollection, that makes it as fast as the new C7.
So this generation iPhone is a little faster you say? My, my, how do they do it… ?
Did this car have those illuminated M3 badges on the seats? In all seriousness: how ridiculous did they look scale of 1-10?
Not as ridiculous as the factory–illuminated grill stars on the new Benzes.
If they did, I didn’t see it. And I’m thankful for that.
LOL, my favorite piece of Jack’s is that one on TTAC about we could solve all branding issues if the manufacturers just started putting the price on the trunk. That was probably one of the funniest and most insightful posts I’ve seen anywhere, truly brilliant.
And if I can make a small addendum, for “sports” cars like this that are theoretically optimized for the track, next to the price- in brackets- we could also add each car’s Nurburgring lap time as recorded by the manufacturer. So the buyer and all those envious onlookers can see how well this car would do were someone like Jack to actually put it through its paces (making comparisons of who has the fastest car on paper and thus smallest dick a snap) while its owner leaves it parked in its natural habitat: the parking lot of a private school in Miami or outside the dorm of a Chinese “all-cash” exchange student in California.
Hey, wait a minute; that has 5 doors. How is that an M3? Let me know when that turbo inevitably blows.
For clarification, the new M3 has more torque than the LS2 C6 at peak. LS3 vette owners can still rest easy.
THANK GOD!
Mid O is my home track, too. What times did you put down in the M3? Did you run the bus stop or the pro course? I’d love for that course to partner up with a magazine to benchmark cars, although it is a little far from most mag offices.
1:39 on the club course, I think.
