Weekend Amusement: Will The Real Adele Please Stand Up

What have you done so far this weekend? I went shopping for a new washer. Just three weeks after I fixed my Whirlpool Duet Steam dryer by swapping out the control board, its laundry-room companion decided to call it quits. A pressure sensor hasn’t fixed it, clearing out the pressure tube hasn’t helped. The next step is a new control board. Which is expensive. The hell with it. Just getting a new one.

So while I work on getting some things written to pay for the washer, here’s something amusing for you. What happens when Adele enters an Adele-impersonator contest? It’s a really sweet and nice video. Is it ironic that the song the producers chose for Adele impersonators is a Bob Dylan song? And how should Adele feel about the impersonators? Is that really how people see her? Should she be flattered?

    I agree. Very nice indeed.

You probably already know this, but the diagnostic procedure data for the washer is likely inside it somewhere, and http://fixitnow.com/ (the Samurai Appliance Repair Man) is also an excellent reference for diy appliance work..

I was swapping stuff in order of likelihood. Duets of this vintage are prone to the “F35/Suds” errors which 90% of the time are fixed with a new pressure sensor. Not in this case, unfortunately.

    *Ahem*

“Just three weeks after I fixed my Whirlpool Duet Steam dryer…” What’s this business???

I don’t recall YOU being anywhere near the dryer when WE (the lovely S and I) fixed it. Nope. Not even close enough to be “supervising” the repair.

See if the control board is on Partsking.com. Also, if you are replacing, it can be surprisingly cost-effective to get a commercial Dexter T300 front-loader. You can get them used from GoldCoin.com or off of eBay - you’ll never replace that washer again. (I run a commercial laundromat and have come to regard consumer equipment in roughly the same way that professional racers regard street cars converted to track duty - it’s just not the same level of fitness-for-purpose as the commercial stuff.)

      Get out of my head!

Seriously, he’s right; the prior-gen Dexter washers and dryers have service lives measured in decades, and unless you know what to look for (red displays are >20 years old; blue displays are 1-20 years old) you’ll swear they’re brand new machines when they’re pushing enough years to tune in to talk radio. The inverter-equipped units won’t stress your house wiring, so look into the under-20 ‘T’ series for the last washer you’ll ever need.

When I break ground on my dream garage one of these years, one corner of the workspace will be devoted to one of their new 50 lb stack washer/dryer combination units.

More info on stacked Dexter washer/dryers please ! .

Do they make one with gas dryer ? .

My Lady friend’s washer is about kaputi , what’s the model # for a Dexter top loader that’ll take commercial service ? she has Teenaged Foster boys who’ll chew up a washing machine in two years…

    THANX IN ADVANCE ! .

Hey, I’m pretty sure C and I fixed that beastie while you were sitting pretty on the couch with a guitar… but, I guess I’ll let it slide this time 😉

Adele seems to connect with her fans in a way that few performers do. The imitation comes from love, clearly.
