Strictly speaking, 115,000 feet above sea level isn’t “space”. Sure looks like it, though! This is available in 1080p resolution and would make for some interesting wallpapers if you’re a Star Wars fan.
I was going to post a short review of The Force Awakens, but after some thought I’ve decided I would rather hear what you have to say. Feel free to post spoilers; if you don’t want to read spoilers, don’t click the jump.
Everybody looks old and fat. Approaching Star Trek generations old and fat. They always shot Carrie Fisher from the chest up. The Rolling Stones look spry by comparison.
I can’t even begin to understand how Harrison Ford broke his leg. Sad that they killed Han off. He was the best character the franchise ever had.
Millennium falcon is still the best stock car / pizza delivery vehicle in the galaxy.
Sequel lined right up for episode VIII. Good thing Lucas didn’t ruin anything. Let us pray that JJ Abrams agrees to do the next one.
Definitely need to see it another time or two to pick up the nuances. But I guess we’ll have to wait a couple of years to find out if Mark Hammill can still speak.
I was 12 when the original was released. Throughout this episode I was constantly reminded of that almost 40 years passage of time and how it waits for no man.
Episode 7 is a bit of a carbon copy of Episode 4. However, it’s a fantastic formula. It is what I loved about the original in many ways. With that said, I wasn’t born when it hit theaters so my impressions are different than those who may have been but a boy when it was released. I loved it. It’s very traditional in the sense that it hits everything I want it to hit. What I WILL compare it to is Guardians of the Galaxy. GOTG is MY generation’s Star Wars. It was far more than we knew we wanted. I should go more in depth on that but I won’t. People either get GOTG or they don’t.
I had the same reaction to GOTG: it is as good as the original Star Wars: a New Hope.
I grew up on the originals (6 years old when the first one came out). Hated the prequels in standard Gen-X fashion and was disappointed when my own children loved them. The new one is a great Star Wars movie and I had a blast seeing it with my kids. It reminded me how much fun a big dumb space cowboy adventure can be.
It was a great, real Star Wars movie. It managed to get us up to speed without droning on about that state the universe is in, and had a great mix of comedy, action, and drama. The new characters were excellent (Abrams gets that true villans are scarier when they have humanity), old characters served a purpose, and lots of mystery and intreigue for the movies to come.
I was *excited* watching the movie. When’s the last time I can say that about any movie?

I was hooked at the line: “The Huffington Post has no idea what the fuck it’s talking about.” It’s a statement that applies to the Huffington Post very well.
As for the movie, not my favorite. I’d rather read the Star Wars novels and imagine that they made sequels to the original trilogy when the original cast was younger.
I agree with pretty much everything that dude said, including his prediction that social media is running out of usefulness.
