Factory Five 818-R First Drive at RoadAndTrack.com

I had the chance to drive Factory Five’s new WRX-based roadster at Gingerman Raceway this past Friday.

You can find a brief story here but there will also be a long print feature with all sorts of neat photography in an upcoming issue of the magazine. I’m looking forward to it.

The 818 and I did not initially get along — and that’s a story I will tell some time in the near future — but in the end I came to really enjoy and respect the car. I think it’s worth the money, if you’re willing to put up with the usual kit-car issues. If you aren’t, go buy a 2002 Corvette Z06 for the same money. I wouldn’t call you stupid for doing so.

Amen Mr. Baruth. You should see this morning’s Piston Slap post. Why can’t he find another way to get into China than paying full MSRP retail to enter? Funding a quasi-legal entry into China and using Kickstarter to retain a good Chinese lawyer would be much more appealing than this.
